Responsible for the reduction or elimination of hospital-acquired incidents of infection in patients and healthcare workers through the collaborative development and implementation of an effective Infection Prevention and Control program, thereby providing cost-effective quality patient care and a safe work environment for staff.
Directs investigation of epidemiologically significant organisms and makes recommendations for prevention.
Bachelors Required. Healthcare related degrees include BSN/MSN, BAN/MAN, MT, CLS, MPH, BS/MS Microbiology or Epidemiology, MS, MD
Current license or registration required if applicable to degree e.g. medical technologist, clinical laboratory scientist, physician or registered nurse.
Certification in Infection Control preferred on hire; or if not, then required within 3 years in position
Bachelors degree and 2 or more years Infection Preventionist experience OR Masters degree and at least 6 months of Infection Preventionist experience.
Documented coursework (college or APIC) in epidemiology principles, statistics, microbiology, adult education and quality improvement principles preferred.
This position generally works Monday-Friday day hours. Off hours call is shared with the East Region IP team on a rotating basis. Travel between River Falls Area Hospital and United Hospital in St Paul is required.
