Function as a program lead and subject matter expert in the prevention and monitoring of healthcare–associated infections and as part of the establishment of a comprehensive infection prevention and control program within clinical environments. Provide consultation and mentoring to lead facility–level clinical infection preventionists (IP), perform infection control surveillance activities, monitor infection control and hospital–acquired infection data, and identify risks for the acquisition and transmission of infectious agents within the hospital and health system. Integrate safety and performance improvement into the infection prevention program with guidance in developing and implementing corrective actions for underperforming facilities. Propose and promulgate policies and procedures and update these as new infection prevention and control information become available. Oversee and monitor compliance with established standards and regulatory requirements. Coordinate the analyses of infection–related data and successes of performance improvement activities.
Basic Qualifications: -5+ years of experience in a healthcare role in a hospital environment -3+ years of experience in a role involving leadership, management, education, consultation, advanced analysis, and strategic planning, including interacting effectively with key stakeholders -Experience with participation in at least one TJC, CMS, or DNV–GL accreditation survey -Experience as an infection preventionist and patient safety advocate -Knowledge of infection prevention and control concepts and principles of epidemiology and infectious diseases -BS degree required
Additional Qualifications: -Possession of excellent critical thinking skills -BA or BS degree in Nursing, Public Health, Microbiology, Environmental Health, or a related field and 3 years of experience in a healthcare or clinical environment preferred; MA or MS degree a plus -Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (CIC) through the Certification Board of Infection Control (CBIC) preferred
