UC Title: Manager Position Number: 10007014 Reports to: Sr. Dir, Quality,Pt Safety&EIP Working Title: Manager, Epidemiology & Infection Cost Center: Infection Control (8712) Bargaining Unit: None FLSA: Exempt Job Code: 0280 Date Created: 04/25/2017 Shift: Day Shift Hours: 40.00 Manages the day to day operations of the Epidemiology and Infection Prevention department and works across inpatient and ambulatory departments, health disciplines, and other facilities to monitor and promote evidence-based epidemiological and infection prevention standards of practice for patients, families, and staff. Functions as the subject matter expert on all epidemiology and infection prevention issues. Provides support to Risk and Regulatory affairs to assure infection prevention-related regulatory compliance is maintained. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload Able to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously with demonstrated ability to complete projects successfully on time and within budget Bachelor's degree in Nursing or other related clinical field Certified Infection Control Practitioner Demonstrated knowledge and experience in patient care practices, microbiology, aseptic technique, disinfection/sterilization, adult education, infectious diseases, communication, program administration, and epidemiology Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English Exceptional level of professionalism, discretion and the ability to work on highly sensitive and confidential projects Knowledge of current trends and best practices in epidemiology and infection prevention Minimum 5 years' experience in epidemiology and infection prevention with demonstrated ability in design and implementation of performance improvement activities in a health care setting including skillful application of continuous quality improvement and patient safety sciences Minimum 5 years' experience working in a healthcare setting Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job Must possess the skill, knowledge and abilities essential to the successful performance of assigned duties Previous supervisory or lead experience Successful track record of effective, team-oriented working relationships with physicians, nurses and other health professionals Bachelor's degree in Nursing, Public Health, Pharmacy, Business, Administration or related field Current CA RN license Experience in Lean-Sigma as an improvement methodology To comply with the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 the essential physical, mental and environmental requirements for this job are listed below.
