Constantly exposed to bodily fluids, hazardous cleaning chemicals, contagious and infectious diseases.
Cleans, sterilizes and delivers surgical instruments for Operating Room and other auxiliary departments. Prepares case carts according to the Operating Room schedule. Delivers supplies to other departments.
Essential Functions & Accountabilities
Performs proper techniques to clean all contaminated instruments and equipment wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
Sorts mismatched sets of instruments, assembles and inspects according to policy using current and approved instrument count sheets.
Sterilizes all items with proper time and temperature according to manufactures instructions for use.
Operate sterilization and processing equipment according to manufacturer’s instructions for use. Reports and removes defective equipment.
Reads Biological spore tests per policy. Documents proper date, time and results of test.
Inspects and wraps all instruments with internal indicator, lock and filters. Labels each package properly.
Cleans, disinfects, and performs durable medical equipment inventories throughout the hospital.
Restocks, labels, and maintains inventory, submits requisitions, collects and distributes instruments, trays, crash carts, and facility medical equipment.
Maintains an orderly and clean Decontamination, and Preparation and Packing areas.
Delivers supplies throughout the hospital.
Assists the purchasing buyer in ordering supplies both stock and non-stock.
All other duties as assigned within the scope and range of job responsibilities.
