Provides leadership and oversight to the CHRISTUS Spohn System Infection Control program. Assumes responsibility for and serves as a resource to each the Spohn campuses and infection preventionists on; infection risk assessment, surveillance, prevention and control strategies. Utilizes epidemiology principles to monitor the delivery of patient care and investigate potential outbreaks of infection. Maintains knowledge of external regulatory standards related to infection surveillance, prevention and control. Ensures policies and procedures meet regulatory standards. This is a matrix reporting structure. This position reports directly to the Regional Director of Regulatory Compliance and coaches, mentors the Infection Preventionists, and provides assistance to the Quality Directors related to their campus IC initiatives.
Master's degree in Health Care field required.
Five years experience in hospital setting, and in the field of Infection Control. Professional organization membership i.e. APIC encouraged.
Prior leadership experience and can lead a team of Infection Preventionists. Has a working knowledge of: field of infection control of epidemiology, OSHA standards, identification of pathogens, antibiotic Susceptibility testing, normal microbial flora of the human body and its distribution.
Computer skills in Microsoft office suite excel and databases needed.
