The Senior Director Corporate Infection Prevention and Control Nurse performs acts, which require substantial specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills based upon principles of psychological, biological, physical, and social sciences. S/he is responsible maintaining and monitoring an effective, system-wide infection prevention and control program, as well as assisting the Medical Director for Infection Prevention and Control in developing the program.
Assists in developing and implementing program initiatives, policies, and education related to infection prevention and pressure injuries for associates and patients.
Supervises the infection prevention and control/wound care nurses that are in the facilities and programs.
Monitors patterns, prevalence and trends, conduct surveillance and evaluate healthcare associated infections and pressure injuries using epidemiologic principles by review and interpretation of microbiology, laboratory and diagnostic reports and medical records. Monitors the effectiveness of the PROTECT Archcare program.
Supports teamwork essential for compliance with accrediting and regulatory agency standards through surveillance, effective prevention and control activities specific to a variety of practice settings, and accurate reports.
Develops an education and training program on infection prevention and control, in conjunction with the medical director and Archcare’s education and training department.
Participates in said educational and training sessions as indicated.
Activities may include:
Application of the nursing process in assessing, planning, and evaluating the PROTECT Archcare program throughout the system.
Communicate with appropriate sources in response to clusters, outbreaks as well as emergency situations.
Co-Chairs the PROTECT Archcare committee in conjunction with the medical director.
Perform Infection Control Risk Assessments as necessary and monitor.
Participate in facility-wide Emergency Preparedness activities related to infection control measures relating to communicable disease outbreaks
Work with the Pressure Injury Clinical group to monitor results of the program

Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Unless otherwise indicated, a minimum of five years of current experience and ideally, within the last three years, in a comparable job classification.
License, Registration, and / or Certification Requirement
Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in New York State
Certificate in Infection Prevention and d Control (CIC)
