The position will be responsible and accountable for program management, clinical operations, performance measurement, and staff and public education for emerging special pathogen preparedness. The position will manage the preparedness, readiness and implementation of the emerging special pathogens program for the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. This includes the preparation of the equipment, staff and unit, maintenance, sustainment and implementation of the emerging special pathogens plan and management of the grant resources. Ensure coordination and communication with HMC support services including S&D, IT, facilities and others. Maintain program compliance with program grants as well as other relevant regulatory guidelines or best practices (e.g. CDC, DOH and NETEC). The position will also interface with local, state, federal and partner facilities to plan for and test program implementation on a set schedule.
Bachelors Degree in Nursing required
Current PA RN license required
2 years critical care, pre-hospital advanced life support/critical care or public heath experience required
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
Ability to work and communicate under pressure
Ability to be flexible and adapt to changes and emerging situations within the field of infectious diseases.
Ability to handle multiple commitments with poise, professionalism, maturity and confidence
Possess or acquire knowledge of hazardous materials decontamination and personal protective equipment specialties within a year
Possess or acquire basic knowledge of Incident Command and the National Incident Management System normally acquired by completing related training programs
Ability to develop and execute educational programs for a multi-disciplinary team of clinical and non-clinical colleagues
Educator experience preferred
Knowledge and training in highly infectious diseases and/or weapons of mass destruction desired
