This position will serve as the Medical Director of the Statewide Healthcare Associated Infections & Antimicrobial Resistance (HAI/AR) Program. Primary responsibilities involve oversight of programs related to HAI/AR prevention and outbreak/containment response. This position will oversee infection preventionists and epidemiologists, act as liaison to the DPH investigations and licensure units, utilize data to guide program and policy development, and provide clinical and programmatic oversight for the implementation of all related prevention and outbreak response activities. This position requires management and leadership skills
QUALIFICATIONS / REQUIREMENTS:
M.D. with Nebraska medical license, preference given to infectious disease board certification; • Minimum three years’ experience in the field of infectious disease; • Minimum three years’ experience in public health, infection control, healthcare associated infections, antimicrobial stewardship; • Minimum three years of full-time supervisory experience; Experience preparing grant applications and managing budgets;
• Experience with contract development and management; • Strong oral and written communication including electronic and web-based communication; Demonstrated program management and leadership skills; • Executive experience in leadership of stakeholder groups (e.g. not for profit organizations, advisory committees, coalitions); • Literacy with antibiotic microbiology, antibiotic prescribing and utilization, model antibiotic prescribing stewardship programs and protocols; • Experience in development and dissemination of model policy recommendations; • Working knowledge of infection control requirements in Nebraska acute care hospitals, long term care facilities and dialysis centers including knowledge and practice of injection safety; Knowledge and experience in the design and utilization of epidemiologic surveillance data.
