This contract is in support of the Armed Services Blood Program and the Army Blood Program mission to collect, process, test and provide quality COVID convalescent plasma and other blood products from volunteer donors and to coordinate the distribution of blood products to Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) worldwide in order or provide life-saving blood products.
You will rotate through various sections of the BDC and on blood drives in remote locations with a focus on COVID- 19 convalescent plasma. Independently performs standardized clinical laboratory tests and procedures appropriate to blood banking. The majority of work performed is covered in established procedures and instructions, though occasionally will perform more complex procedures which are not covered in detail by existing documents. Maintains a professional attitude and communicates effectively with donors, patients, physicians, and fellow employees.

High School Graduate and Graduate from a medical laboratory technician training program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist
One year of experience in a clinical laboratory in any one or a combination of the following sections: hematology, chemistry, cytology, histology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology, molecular, blood bank or in a blood donor center
Must possess current certification/registration as Medical Laboratory Technician or equivalent by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, American Medical Technologists or other agency approved by the Assistant Secretary Defense (Health Affairs), ASD(HA
Must read, understand, speak, and write English fluently, Must be U.S. Citizen and be able to obtain and maintain required government security clearance, Must have a BLS (approved by American Heart Assoc.)
Familiarity with Enterprise Blood Management System (EBMS), Composite Health Care System (CHCS), MHS Genesis, and Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application (AHLTA) is desired
