Regional Director Infection Prevention and Control
In this role, you will direct the management, planning, development, implementation, evaluation and continuous improvement of the Washington region's infection prevention and control program across the entire care continuum, including hospital, ASCs, and ambulatory settings. You will be accountable for supporting the goal to eliminate potential infection hazards for members, physicians, staff and visitors and maintaining compliance with all IC&P related Accreditation (TJC, DNV, AAAHC) and Regulatory standards (CMS, Washington). You will also be accountable for the strategic planning and direction of hospital, ASC, and ambulatory clinic infection prevention activities; providing expert consultation related to cleaning, antisepsis, disinfection, and sterilization, and facility design and construction; and implementing education and training programs. In addition, you will direct the reporting of communicable diseases as required by the Washington Department of Health, and coordinates efforts in Kaiser Permanente with state agencies in the event of a disease outbreak.
At least five years of relevant nursing experience
At least five years of progressive leadership experience
At least five years of experience directing an infection prevention and control program in an accredited (i.e. Joint Commission, DNV) health care facility
A bachelor’s of science degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, or a related field
A current Washington State RN license by date of hire/transfer
CIC: Certified by CBIC (Certification Board of infection Control and Epidemiology)
Excellent Analytic skills
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Comprehensive command of MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
Extensive knowledge of CDC, APIC, AORN, SGNA, AAMI, and OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen standards, requirements, and recommendations
Knowledge of employee health regulations and standards
Knowledge of available resources such as AIA/ASHE and SHEA guidance
Experience in performance improvement, safety science, and engaging front line clinical staff in improvement
Experience with automated, electronic data collection/reporting processes (i.e. MedMined)
Experience with infection investigative process including tuberculosis and surgical site infections
Preferred Qualifications Include:
At least two years of management experience in an infection prevention and control program in an acute care and outpatient setting
At least two years of management experience in an infection prevention and control program in an integrated delivery system consisting of multiple sites and a broad range of services (i.e. hospital, ambulatory surgery, eye care, orthopedics, dermatology, dental)
A master’s degree in nursing, public health, epidemiology, health care administration, or a related field
