Henry Mayo Newhall Hospital (HMNH) is looking for an Infection Preventionist to join their team. HMNH is a 364 beds independent not-for-profit hospital with a Level II Trauma Center that provides a broad range of inpatient and outpatient services.

The Infection Preventionist is responsible for identifying healthcare-associated infection risks to patients and personnel through surveillance, observation and assessment and will:
specialize in developing, implementing, monitoring and reporting infection risk-reduction strategies through collaboration with all levels of medical center personnel.
research and develop infection control policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, nationally-recognized infection control guidelines, and recognized best practices.
gather and analyze epidemiologic data, develops reports to communicate findings and manage performance improvement activities to reduce infection risks.
have effective written & oral communication skills, strong team participation and management skills and be able to demonstrate meticulous attention to accuracy with data collection and reporting.
coordinate initial and on-going department-specific and facility-wide educational programs related to infection prevention and control.
plan and coordinate programs to evaluate and monitor sterile and aseptic techniques, cleaning and disinfection procedures, and sterilization processes employed by the medical center.
collaborate with and makes recommendations to department leadership to reduce or eliminate potential infection hazards and to initiate corrective action as indicated through infection surveillance and monitoring programs.
Licensure and Certification:
Current California Registered Nurse License (RN) or comparable license in a related healthcare field such as CLS/MT (ASC), D.P.M, M.D
Current BLS provider card.
Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required.
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or commensurate degree in a healthcare related field. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
Must have a minimum of three (3) years of infection control experience in an acute care setting and specific training through APIC, CDC, and/or California Department of Health in Infection Control.
