Under general direction, implements and maintains an Infection Prevention Program to prevent, identifies, and control nosocomial and community acquired infections.
Develops, implements, monitors, evaluates and revises Infection Prevention goals, standards, policies and procedures per long-term care guidelines.
Coordinates multi-disciplinary and interdepartmental efforts to improve performance of infection prevention/control programs and services.
Facilitates meeting applicable regulatory requirements through monitoring and reporting infection trends and reporting communicable diseases and supporting laboratory, as required.
Acts as liaison and consults with management staff, physicians, and other healthcare professionals on Infection Prevention issues and concerns. Collaborates with Public Health Department as needed.
Maintains on-going communications and cooperative relationships with infection prevention committees and external agencies.
Participates in epidemiological investigations of significant clusters of infection above established standards and of unusual isolates.
Institutes and maintains control measures pertaining to health care worker infection prevention issues.
Assesses the need for developing and presenting Infection Prevention in-service education for functional client departments, general orientation and annual review and as needed.
Insures residents receive TB test on admission; offers pneumovac vaccine and oversees yearly flu vaccinations of residents.
Administers TB testing and annual flu vaccine for all employees. Conducts follow-up on positive TB results.
Provides and follows-up on past exposures such as needle sticks and other infectious disease.
Follows-up on serial employee vaccinations.
Reviews employee incidents and performs follow-ups.
Creates employee wellness programs by conducting education seminars.
Identifies and trends employee health issues.
Orientates new employee-to-employee health policies procedures.

Education / Training:
Registered Nurse Licensure. BSN preferred
2. Work Experience:
3 years' experience in a Skilled Nursing Facility
Management experience preferred
3. Certification, Licensure, Registration:
RN State of Michigan
4. Other Qualifications:
Demonstrates knowledge of microbiology, laboratory procedures, aseptic technique and epidemiological techniques.
Utilizing knowledge of medical procedures, treatments and patient management. Demonstrates ability to comprehend and utilize scientific data and statistical techniques/methods.
Screens data results for variations and/or errors, functions as a liaison, instructor, consultant, and coordinator with client departments.
Demonstrates organizational, problem-solving, decision-making and delegation skills. Demonstrates ability to develop educational programs effectively and communicate in a clear, concise and timely manner.
