You Will Be Responsible For:

• Assists the therapists in activities related to direct patient care within the legal and professional scope of a Therapy Services Technician.
• Follows all duties and responsibilities assigned by licensed Therapy Services personnel.
• Applies modalities such as moist heat and ice packs, as directed by the therapist, monitoring patient response and reporting to the therapist immediately an adverse reaction by the patient.
• Assists the therapist with activities of daily living and patient ambulation, using walkers/crutches, transfers and assisting in exercise programs in a timely manner.
• Transports patients with medical record as assigned, using appropriate safety precautions and good body mechanics.
• Escorts patients into the treatment area, setting up the treatment booths for each patient's needs and cleaning treatment area after the treatment.
• Prepares the whirlpools for treatment, removes dressings, and sets up sterile dressings according to Infection Control procedures.
• Copies home exercise programs routinely keeping the files up to date and readily available.
• Reports to the supervising therapist the results of all treatments given in a timely matter.
• Communicates to the staff therapists and to the Department Head all matters dealing with changes in patient care, incidents, or complaints, within an effective period of time and relaying all information accurately.
• Employee demonstrates ability to maintain departmental/equipment cleanliness and organization.
• Places soiled linen in appropriate location by the end of each day.
• Stocks linens in each treatment area daily.
• Cleans and organizes department equipment according to schedule and documents completion.
• Collects all equipment not currently being used from each nursing unit daily.
• Cleans all mats and treatment areas at the end of each day to prepare for patient care the next day.
• Checks temperature of hydrocollators, paraffin and refrigerator daily and documents on the temperature log.
• Cleans hydrocollators, refrigerator, and other equipment on a routines basis.
• Employee demonstrates ability to perform tasks relating to the efficient and safe departmental operations.
• Provides telephone coverage along with other support staff during operational hours.
• Consistently checks department voicemail throughout the day and takes messages accurately, ensuring proper routing of messages verbally or by written note, pager or voice page.
• Retrieves incoming/outgoing mail daily and distributes accurately in a timely manner.
• Starts the departmental computer daily to retrieve and acknowledge all therapy treatment orders.
• Consistently checks computer for new treatment orders, make tags and notify the appropriate therapist.
• Obtains all Therapy Services screens daily and distributes appropriately.
• Reviews the patient schedule, pulls charts and provides charge sheets for the treating therapist daily.
• Faxes scripts, reports and all other departmental correspondence in a timely manner.
• Accurately enters all patient charges into the computer by 9:00 a.m. of the next treatment day.

What You Will Need:

• High school education or equivalent.
• 1-3 months on-the-job training.
• Previous experience preferred

Job Summary:

Assists in the overall day to day operations of Therapy Services with direct patient care as well as non-patient care related tasks.  Directly responsible to the Clinical Coordinators but receives direction from all licensed personnel in the department.
