The Employee Health & Workers Compensation Manager is responsible for the day-to-day services and activities provided by the Employee Health Department and coordinates the organizations Workers’ Compensation programs. This position will be responsible for the set-up of the Employee Health Program at Solis and will be responsible for managing, planning, implementing, and evaluating comprehensive health and safety for employees, contractors, and volunteers. The role involves extensive record keeping, organization, problem solving skill, and time management. In addition, the interpretation and communication of complex regulations relating to Employee Health and Workers Compensation is a large part of the job function. Extensive interaction with Leadership and Human Resources is also required.
RESULTS MEASURE BY THE FOLLOWING RESPONSIBILITIES:
Understands, promotes and demonstrates the Solis Way
Oversee the development, revision and implementation of policies and procedures specific to the Employee Health Department and Workers’ Compensation program
Oversee the daily operation of the Employee Health Department and the Workers’ Compensation program
Implement new policies relevant to the Employee Health Department and Workers’ Compensation in accordance with State and Federal regulations and recommendations
Stays current regarding changes in Employee Health practices, and in accordance with state/federal guidelines, accreditation agencies and JV Partner policies. Presents plan for organizational compliance in a timely manner
Identify priorities to enable team members to function in a safe, effective and efficient manner
Attend depositions, mediations, and other legal proceedings regarding Workers’ Compensation claims
Develops, maintains and audits employee health records; coordinate with each JV partner employee health/HR department to obtain and/or provide records for compliance/audit purposes; keeps electronic record up-to- date and follows record retention guidelines
Responsible for reviewing records of all new hires and existing team members, placing vaccination/screening orders and scheduling/coordinating appointments with the lab to ensure compliance upon hire, as well as annually
Provide oversight for Covid exposure/illness prevention, screening and management
Plan and coordinate vaccine clinics (Flu, Covid, etc.)
Partner with HR for maintenance of lab contracts and renewals
Work closely with Benefits, HR, and team members and leaders for ADA accommodations and leave management
Collaborate with Compliance/Risk management as required, as well as for annual training requirements
Develops, maintains and audits team member licensure and certification records in HRIS; performs primary source verification and other data source collection as required
Oversee and assist in the retrieval of data necessary for the completion of records and reports that are necessary for governmental regulations and insurance purposes
Create and provide reports required by internal/external customers and external reporting agencies
This role may require some travel to meet the above role expectations; as well as to administer vaccines
Other duties as assigned
5-7 years of relevant experience in employee health required; prior experience setting up employee health programs desired
Active RN Licensure in State of Texas or Multistate Compact License preferred
Understanding of workers compensation programs required
Strong knowledge of Federal and State employment regulations
Strong organizational, verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize work and multi-task is essential
Must have strong problem-solving skills and customer service orientation is critical, with demonstrated flexibility in work responsibilities and style to meet key customer/client needs
Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and advanced computer skills
Good communication and people skills
Excellent customer service skills
Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% of the time
