This role provides direct clinical patient care. The role will assume responsibility for assessing, planning, implementing direct clinical care to assigned patients on a per shift basis, and unit level.
The role is responsible for supervision of staff to which appropriate care is delegated. The role is accountable to support CNO to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical staff, and appropriate resource management related to patient care.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following and are performed in accordance to hospital policies and procedures under the direct supervision of and in collaboration with the RN preceptor. Other duties may be assigned.
Assist the RN with Patient assessment and data collection.
Obtains patient clinical data collection as delegated by the RN preceptor.
Reports deviations immediately.
1. Obtains shift report from RN preceptor prior to initiating patient care.
Consults with RN preceptor prior to performing any skill.
Communicates/collaborates with team members to meet patient needs.
Contributes to the nursing care plan and assist in setting goals for the patient.
Provides population specific care and communication.
Performs the following under the direct supervision of the RN preceptor:
Assists with patient care activities
Activities of Daily Living
Assists with the provision of patient education
Assists with the evaluation of patient care outcomes
Assist with the basic level nursing care/measures
Maintains patient safety through adherence to safety and infection control policies
1. Assists with the evaluation of patient outcomes.

Maintains effective communication with co-workers and other departments to ensure the clarification and meeting of customer needs.

Demonstrates telephone etiquette with patients, team members and guests.
