The Senior Program Coordinator will be assigned to the Central Office as part of NYSDOH’s Antimicrobial Resistance (AR) Surveillance and Response Program to address novel and targeted multidrug resistant organisms (nMDROs), including but not limited to carbapenemase-producing organisms and Candida auris. The Senior Program Coordinator will work with Senior Staff to oversee and perform complex activities that include working with stakeholders on MDRO prevention and response activities across NYS. This will include supervision of staff, conducting on-site visits to facilities, gathering relevant clinical and epidemiological information, reviewing policies and practices, performing quality improvement, providing training, and coordination of data, preparing reports, publications and presentations. The Senior Program Coordinator will provide education, training and guidance to acute and long-term facilities on infection prevention and control practices for MDROs and will also work to improve inter-facility communication to ensure that it includes relevant infection control information, such as MDRO status. The incumbent will ensure that health equity indicators are incorporated into all aspects of the work.

Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree in a related field and four years of program coordination experience in a public health, health, or human services-related program or community-based organization; OR an Associate’s degree in a related field and six years of such experience; OR eight years of such experience. The experience must have been contributing toward the development, implementation and/or evaluation of a program, project or other related activities. At least two years of experience must have included supervision of staff and/or program management. A Master’s degree in a related field may substitute for one year of experience.

Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's or graduate degree in infection control, biology, statistics, public health, epidemiology, nursing, or a related field. Certification in Infection Control (CIC), experience using the National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN), knowledge of infection control policies and practices related to MDROs, experience in outbreak investigation or control. Demonstrated experience writing reports or similar written communication and providing presentations.
