The Supervisor of Histoology manages the daily the operations of the Histopathology Laboratory. This includes ensuring that regulatory and safety requirements are met. Supervises staff, including all activities relative to work assignments, hiring/termination, performance reviews, orientation, and professional development.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Supervises the daily functions of the histopathology laboratory to ensure it runs efficiently.
Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel including the selection, orientation, training, assignments, evaluations, discipline, and discharge of employees.
Oversees equipment maintenance records and schedules preventative maintenance for equipment including microscopes, microtones, strainers, ovens, and cryostats.
Assist with budgeting, provides information about supplies, personnel, and equipment, seeks avenues of cost containment, and plans long-term purchases or capital equipment.
Develops, recommends, implements, and maintains policies and procedures related to the histopathology laboratory.
Ensures compliance with all safety standards established by OSHA and CAP.
Remains knowledgeable of trends in Histopathology through review of current literature and continuing education.
Performs all delegated functions as defined by facility CLIA Director.
