We work directly with member organizations, helping them use data to drive clinical decision-making, enhance patient-centered care, transform care systems, and improve population health. AMGA is looking for an individual to lead implementation research studies from concept development through publication. Opportunity for a researcher who is creative, self-motivated, and collaborative to join a small, highly-skilled, research team focused on helping AMGA member organizations innovate care delivery processes, evaluate interventions, and promote rapid improvement in outcomes at lower overall costs. The Qualitative Research Scientist should have a strong foundation in qualitative research, experience writing project proposals, leading multi-site and multi-faceted research studies, including tracking and producing deliverables, working with study sponsors, both federal and private, presenting findings and writing manuscripts.
Summary of Responsibilities
Lead implementation research studies, including study design and protocol development in collaboration with research team and study sponsor. Conduct environmental scans, and literature reviews. Determine appropriate theoretical models and evaluation frameworks.
Develop study materials such as interview guides and surveys. Conduct focus groups and key informant interviews.
Build and maintain relationships with member healthcare organization participants in research to support ongoing and future research recruitment efforts.
Develop and manage project plans and timelines, including delivery of key budget milestones.
Capture and highlight best practices and strategies to develop toolkits, implementation guides, and other resources as well as white papers, presentations, and workshops, for dissemination across AMGA membership and to other key stakeholders.
Lead development of peer reviewed manuscripts for research studies as appropriate.
Master’s or PhD degree in a health-related field, e.g., health services research, health economics, epidemiology.
5+ years of substantive, professional experience relevant to implementation research, including leading qualitative research, for health care organizations, communications firms, government agencies, or life sciences companies.
Experience conducting mix methods research, including the use of relevant software/applications. Strong project management skills including, but not limited to, ability to effectively liaise with project sponsor/funder, coordinate activities among multiple team members, meet deadlines, track budgets, manage multiple tasks and projects, and document and communicate success.
Excellent oral and superb written communication skills are required, with experience writing for a variety of audiences (e.g., clinicians, researchers, administrators) across different channels (e.g., newsletters, posters, publications, website content)
Strong team member skills.
Experience planning and managing on-site events and workshops is a plus.
