The Clinical Manager is responsible for the supervision of the nursing staff as well as oversight of Unit Social Worker, Activities Leader and Program Secretary. This position administers the nursing program in Facility in order to maintain standards of patient care. Recommends establishment or revision of policies and develops standards of performance. Interprets policies and objectives of Facility nursing service to staff and community groups. Promotes good working relations with community agencies and with other Facility departments. Performs personnel management functions, such as establishing personnel qualification requirements, drafting procedure manuals, initiating in-service programs and installing records and reporting systems. Appoints professional and auxiliary nursing staff. Initiates studies to evaluate effectiveness of nursing services in relation to its objectives and cost. Participates in community health programs.

Essential Functions:
·        Assures that an accurate assessment of resident care needs is completed and documented for each resident within 14 days of admission to the Unit. Assures that an individualized inter-disciplinary plan of care containing measurable and time limited objectives is established for each resident and reviewed at least quarterly or as a change in resident condition warrants.
·        Consistently encourages the SNF/Subacute staff to anticipate potential health and psychological deficits and in identifying nursing actions to minimize or prevent those deficits. Ensures that infection control policies and procedures are adhered to, especially those dealing with Universal Precautions and the handling of hazardous wastes.
·        Consistently demonstrates the ability to work effectively with Unit staff, physicians, families, Facility administrative team, outside resources, ancillary service personnel and Kindred HealthCare personnel.
·        Makes resident care rounds daily. Plans and conducts resident care conferences.
·        Develops, implements and assures staff compliance with Facility and Kindred HealthCare quality improvement plan. Interprets and directs implementation of policies and procedures.
·        Provides for adequate orientation of all personnel according to Title 22 standards and OBRA guidelines. Assures through regular observation and evaluation that nursing staff on the Unit are proficient in delivery of resident care and are competent to perform all necessary treatments and procedures.
·        Demonstrates concern for residents’ welfare by rendering immediate assistance to residents in need.
·        Promotes, maintains and helps establish an environment that offers residents, family members, significant-others, and the community, courteous, fair and impartial service.
·        Consistently demonstrates effectiveness in directing and coordinating the activities of the Unit in accordance with Facility and departmental policies.
·        Performs such other functions as are identified by Kindred HealthCare’s Manager of Clinical Services and/or Support Center CEO/COO.

·        Bachelor’s Degree in nursing preferred
Licenses/Certification:
·        Current valid licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse.
·        Current Basic Life Support Certification
Experience:
·        Minimum of three years nursing experience required, one of which has been in supervision. Experience caring for patients with technical dependency (Medi-Cal requirement). Previous SNF experience.
