The role you will contribute:
The respiratory care equipment technician works under the supervision of the respiratory department leadership team and with the guidance of licensed respiratory care practitioners to prepare, transport, set up and check respiratory care equipment in both routine and emergency situations including the management and distribution of medical gas cylinders to all patient care areas.
The value you will bring to the team:
·Provides non-direct patient care support services for respiratory therapy department.
·Management and distribution of medical gas cylinders including inventory and cylinder transport to all patient care areas (including CVOR, Endoscopy, Main OR, Labor & Delivery, Radiology, Neonatal Transport and Cath Lab).
·Make daily rounds to assigned areas to deliver, check, change and set-up equipment.
·Direct Supply-Chain management for all ordering/stocking and inventory of the RT Department supplies.
·Maintain all respiratory supply areas to optimal par levels. Coordinates with Nursing unit leaders to maintain an organized stock/supply room.
·Stock respiratory and medical gas supply equipment in all patient areas.
·Check all soiled utility rooms for respiratory equipment.
·Frontline troubleshooting of all broken or damaged respiratory equipment including equipment removed from service by staff. Assists in the management of all rental equipment.
·Set up ventilator and critical care Bi-level breathing machines including routine operational system checks.
·Communication with Vendors/Reps and outside business partners regarding new equipment for the department. Includes ownership of bronchoscope exchange/repair process.
·Practices standard precautions and enforces safety regulations according to hospital policies on a continual basis.
·Documents and charges for procedures accurately and completely.
·Demonstrate collaboration and teamwork in assisting with patient flow.
Qualifications
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:
·Demonstrated ability to follow written and verbal instructions effectively.
·Disassemble, clean, reassemble and test respiratory equipment.
·Working knowledge of and ability to use computer and perform data entry.
·Ensure Infection Control
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
·High School education or equivalent
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
·Students enrolled in a 2 or 4-year Accredited Respiratory Care Program
·Previous experience in hospital setting preferred.
