Geisinger Laboratory seeks CP/AP-CP boarded pathologist for system director of Clinical Pathology Informatics. Board eligibility/certification in Clinical Informatics preferred; other advanced informatics degrees or experience considered.

Job Duties

PRIMARY DUTIES:

• Facilitate development of software/middleware solutions for laboratory operations
• Assist in optimization of EPIC Beaker LIS to support clinical operations and data extraction
• Use Unified Data Architecture to optimize centralized and federated data analytics capabilities related to existing dashboards, registries and organizational balance scorecard
• Clinical pathology services/remote call; opportunity to customize practice within subspecialties (transfusion medicine, hematology/coagulation, chemistry, microbiology, molecular pathology)
• Teaching medical students, residents, and fellows in informatics, pathology, and other specialties
• Academic appointment at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine and research opportunities available

LAB AT A GLANCE:

• Annual volumes: 15 million billable clinical tests; 98,000 surgical cases; 42,000 cytology cases
• Professional staff includes 44 pathologists and clinical PhDs
• Integrated pathology and laboratory services within Geisinger practice in a sub-specialty model

Geisinger Medical Center: (GMC), located in Danville, Pa., the largest tertiary/quaternary care teaching hospital in the region, is licensed for 475 beds, including 89 pediatric beds in the Janet Weis Children's Hospital. GMC, a Magnet Hospital, maintains the region's only Level I Regional Resource Trauma Center with additional qualifications in pediatrics. GMC offers an array of highly specialized medical and surgical services, including neurosciences, cardiovascular services, transplantation, women's health (in the Women's Pavilion), oncology and orthopaedics. The Hospital for Advanced Medicine serves as an integrated center for the most critical patients. Outpatient services are available on and off campus.
