The Director of Cancer Care for the FHCC/Overlake Cancer Center serves as the program leader for cancer services offered by Overlake Medical Center (OMC) and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (FHCC). This position bridges both organizations to help achieve clinical, research, and operational excellence and reports to both Fred Hutch and Overlake leadership.
Responsibilities
Leadership
- Provides management of cancer center to ensure accomplishment of organizational mission and objectives as approved by Joint Cancer Program Executive Leadership Committee
- Develops and maintains and reports standard monthly and quarterly KPI reports related to patient and service volumes, migration, quality, and service performance.
- Serves on and/or lead relevant steering committees and councils across the areas of strategy operations, marketing, research, etc.
Strategic Planning & Implementation
- In partnership with OMC and FHCC responsible for coordinating leading regular strategic planning efforts with site specific teams, develop strategic KPIs, identify strategic initiatives, and define clinical and research resource needs to expand program.
- Leads the implementation of the strategic plan by holding key stakeholders accountable, manage initiatives, resolve barriers, and pivot the strategic plan as needed
Partnership Management
- Build and maintains working relationships with OMC and FHCC department leaders, faculty, and medical staff of the parent organizations, as well as community partners.
- Serves as resource person to OMC Medical Staff and personnel regarding Cancer Center issues.
- Serves as a member of OMC and FHCC leadership/management groups, represents the Cancer Center, and ensures compliance with standards and policies, as appropriate.
- Support the review and expansion of joint OMC/FHCC clinical and research programs (e.g., multi-disciplinary cancer clinics, oncology nurse navigation, supportive care etc.)
Operations
- In partnership with Overlake and FHCC operational leadership, benchmarks performance against appropriate regional and national measures
- In conjunction with Overlake and FHCC operational leadership, leads analysis to understand barriers to patient access and implement actions to expand access.
- Plans, organizes, and directs all cancer center activities in accordance with established standards of patient care.
- Maintains working relationships with Overlake and FHCC Department Leaders, Faculty and Medical Staff of the parent organization.
- Develops and recommends changes to effect continual improvement of quality, efficiency, economy and effectiveness of cancer center operations and services.
- Plans, resources, develops, and monitors multidisciplinary team-based care to support quality outcomes.
Fiscal and Regulatory
- Advises operational and leadership teams as they develop and monitor operational and capital budgets.
- Supports the overall compliance with laws/standards/regulations affecting cancer center and works with OMC and FHCC operations leadership to comply with joint requirements:

- College of American Pathologists
- National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers
- NCCN - National Comprehensive Cancer Network
Quality
- In partnership with OMC and FHCC Quality Departments ensures cancer center adherence with quality standards and initiatives as required by parent institutions, government agencies, and accrediting bodies.
- Develops and supports joint quality initiatives.
- Develops and implements approved departmental policies, procedures, systems, and standards.
- Identifies risk management improvement opportunities, aligned with OMC and FHCC policies and plans appropriate action.
Marketing and Outreach
- In partnership with OMC and FHCC marketing departments, develops messaging, materials, and media content to promote cancer center in the community.
- In partnership with the OMC and FHCC outreach teams, develops strategies for engaging provider group in the community to promote education and physician support
- Maintains working relationships with local cancer associations and community resources.
- Represents the cancer center in educational and outreach activities in the community.
- Collaborate with respective OMC and FHCC foundations to engage potential donors for fundraising opportunities across the joint program.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 6 years of experience in leadership capacity at academic medical centers or community health systems
- 2-3 years of experience in strategic planning and implementation and/or managing or supporting strategic partnerships or joint ventures among multiple organizations.
- 3 years of experience in program development and operation of clinical service areas including inpatient, outpatient, physician office
- 3 years of experience with clinical leadership of a cancer center, physicians in private practice and/or with academic partners
- Proficiency in reading, writing, comprehending, and speaking English as required for business necessity
- Accountability for HIPAA privacy and security standards within the department or assigned nursing unit
- Must possess basic skills to use Microsoft Office, specialized software, and electronic office equipment
- Adheres to organizational patient safety standards relevant to the department or assigned nursing unit
Preferred:
- Master's degree in healthcare related field or business administration
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge of Design Thinking methodology.
- Knowledge in financial modeling and financial statement analysis

The hourly pay range for this position is from $138,022 to $230,036 and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications. This position may be eligible for relocation assistance.
