Department Overview
Our float team is an integral part of nursing services and provides a valuable resource to the entire Children's Minnesota St. Paul Campus. Float team members apply skills in a number of areas and are extremely knowledgeable, resourceful and flexible with the care they provide and units they support. Our nursing care team consists of registered nurses, clinical support associates and unit operations coordinators. RNs hired into this area would support all medical surgical areas as well have the option of choosing the NICU or the PICU track (including the ED and PACU), while Unit Operations Coordinators and Clinic Support Associates hired into this area would support all of the floors on the St Paul campus.

Position Summary
Performs registered nurse duties outlined in registered nurse job description. In addition, the clinical educator is seen as a role model to other RN staff, and is involved in all aspects of orienting/training RN staff.
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Current MN RN license.
BSN required.
Current BLS and PALS certification required.
Pediatric Nursing or CCRN Certification or ability/willing to obtain in one year.
2 years current Pediatric Med/Surg and NICU experience required
Current preceptor experience strongly preferred.
Flexible to adjust work schedule to accommodate education sessions for all shifts as well as required meetings.
Committed to bridge the gap between the academic and clinical setting. Collaborate with Nursing Education to work with Schools of Nursing to coordinate clinical experiences for preceptorships and clinical groups.
Demonstrates professional behavior including consistently modeling Children's Values.
Possess strong organization, communication, group interaction, and presentation skills.
Understand competency-based education, including the ability to give constructive and effective performance feedback.
Ability to multi task as float team CE will need to coordinate and collaborate with all units of the hospital to address orientation needs.
Staff and manager interviews will be utilized along with a 10-minute teaching demonstration on a topic related to the Floats team
