Overall Function: The Health Services Nurse-Director of Health Services is responsible for the Director of Health Services who provides strategic leadership and operational oversight of all health services at Vista Del Mar Child and Family Services. This role ensures high-quality medical care for clients across programs, including Home Study and Post Release Services (HSPRS), ORR Vista Haven, Vista Non-Public School, Short-Term Residential Therapeutic Program, and the Community Treatment Facility. The Director oversees nursing staff, ensures regulatory compliance, and fosters collaboration between medical and program staff to support client well-being.
Reports to: Senior VP of Intensive Intervention Programs/ Coordinates with Medical Director.
Essential Job Duties (other duties may be assigned):
Lead and manage the Health Services Department to deliver comprehensive medical care across all agency programs.
Supervise and support nursing staff, including hiring, training, performance management, and scheduling.
Ensure compliance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, licensure, and accreditation requirements.
Collaborate with program directors and clinical staff to align medical services with client treatment plans.
Develop and implement health services policies, procedures, and standards.
Oversee medical care delivery, including assessments, medication administration, and emergency response.
Manage relationships with external medical providers and health-related contracts.
Provide training to staff on medical protocols, first aid, infection control, and related topics.
Oversee quality assurance and ensure accurate medical documentation.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Manage nursing staff across all Vista Del Mar programs, ensuring quality care, staff development, and regulatory compliance.
Analytical Skills:
Duties are of a complex nature, requiring judgements for which there may be no precedents. This job requires not only knowledgeability within an established field, but also initiating new procedures and approaches to problems that may initially prove resistant to standard remedies.
Qualifications:
Registered nurse; current CA license.
Current California Nursing License, CPR Certification
2 years Psychiatric experience preferred.
Nursing Administration and or 1 year Management/supervisory experience.
Physical ability to independently perform basic nursing tasks and CPR.
Ability to hear and verbally communicate with others.
