Overview
This individual provides direct patient care as the Center's Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant according to established protocols, policies, procedures, and accepted standards of care. Functions within approved scope and credentials as approved by Beebe Medical Center credentialing committee. Follow established standards, procedures, and practices, and gives specific patient care directions to nursing and other staff.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates knowledge of etiologies, risk factors, pathophysiology, presentation and epidemiology of medical conditions.
Performs history and physical assessments of patients that are accurate, complete, concise, relevant and appropriate for age, gender and clinical problem.
Orders appropriate diagnostic studies and correctly interprets the results.
Utilizes critical thinking to synthesize and analyze collected data.
Develops, implements, evaluates and alters the plan of care as needed.
Manages medical conditions based on knowledge of the indications, contraindications, side effects, interactions and adverse reactions of pharmacologic agents and other relevant treatment modalities.
Counsels and educates patients and families.
Demonstrates proficiency in procedural skills pertinent to practice area.
Maintains accurate, complete, concise and timely documentation in the electronic medical record.
Qualifications
Current CPR Certification
Credentials: Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant-Certified
Active DEA license or ability to apply.

• Proficiency in ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests related to gastroenterology.

• Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and medical documentation.

Credentials
Essential:
• Valid and unrestricted license as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) in the practicing state.
• Board certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP), Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner (AGNP), or Physician Assistant (PA-C).
• Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• DEA registration for prescribing medications (if required).
Education
Essential: * Master’s degree from an accredited Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) program.

Founded in 1916 by two physician brothers, Drs. James Beebe and Richard C. Beebe, the medical center in Lewes is a 210-licensed-bed, not-for-profit seaside community hospital. Beebe's specialized service lines include cardiac and vascular, surgical services, oncology, women's health, and orthopaedic services. Beebe's Medical Staff has grown tremendously since the early 1990s. Employed physicians through Beebe Medical Group and our affiliated physicians on Beebe's Medical Staff now serve patients from Milford to Millville in specialties including cardiac surgery, dermatology, endocrinology, family practice, gastroenterology, general surgery, internal medicine, pediatric neurology, and surgical oncology.
